Second Title IX lawsuit filed against KU for assault in Jayhawker Towers

Brown & Curry filed a second lawsuit on behalf of  a KU student against KU yesterday stemming from a sexual assault that occurred in Jayhawker Towers in August of 2015. The plaintiff, a former member of the University’s rowing team, remains at KU and has filed under a pseudonym, Jane Doe 7. A copy of the court-filed petition can be found here: Petition court stamped.Earlier this year, Daisy Tackett, also a former KU rower, filed a lawsuit stemming from a sexual assault at the same KU dormitory involving the same alleged assailant, a member of the KU football team at the time. More information is available here.  Like Ms. Tackett, KU coaches prevented Jane Doe 7 from participating in the rowing team after she came forward with her report. In addition to asserting she suffered a hostile educational environment and retaliation under Title IX, Jane Doe 7 also asserts that KU discriminated against her disability and made false representations regarding the safety of Jayhawker Towers.
